Surprised, but shouldn't have been.
"Surprised, but shouldn't have been" would be my title for the recent concert by Banda Los Recoditos. She is hands-down my all-time favorite artist, the only one I would spend money on to see live. When she came to Raleigh, I made sure to be there. I read reviews prior to attending the concert and 9 out of 10 emphasized how she arrives late, 2 hours, 4 hours, etc. I was prepared for the late arrival, as the concert was supposed to start at 7 and she hit the stage at 9 on the dot. The DJ was phenomenal, which made the wait more enjoyable. However, about 15 minutes before she went onstage, there was a downpour. Despite the weather, I refused to leave because it IS Banda Los Recoditos. I decided to worry about my hair the next day. Her performance was a huge disappointment. She remixed the songs, integrated some, and SPED through all, making it barely recognizable. It was totally unexpected. Around 9:20, I started gathering my things, and my friend beside me was doing the same. We both felt the disappointment as we left the venue, getting rained on again. It was a very disappointing experience. I give it 2 stars only because of the pre-concert DJ, and her band was great."
